Community Development
Reinvestment Partners is engaged in housing and community development to model innovations, improve neighborhoods and build assets. We practice what we preach - investing in low income communities.
Manufactured Housing
In a compliment to our advocacy and research on manufactured housing, Reinvestment Partners invested $190,000 into the Burnsville Land Community as a silent second mortgage to provide long term affordability and preservation for this 14 unit manufactured housing community in Western, North Carolina. Designed as a land-trust with resident involvement, we are pleased to have partnered with the Center for Participatory Change, the NC Housing Coalition and a number of funders to model the first redevelopment of a manufactured housing community into nonprofit control. Please watch this slide show to hear the voices and faces of the Burnsville Initiative:

East Durham Redevelopment
Reinvestment Partners purchased and redeveloped its current office space at 110 E. Geer St. When we began, it was used by vagrants and suffered from years of disinvestment. Today we are a cornerstone for redevelopment efforts in our neighborhood. With assistance from the City of Durham we purchased and demolished a distressed property. We have purchased land for future infill development. We have provide assistance in housing development for special needs with CASA and Housing for New Hope. Our offices host the Durham Community Media Center hosting Durham's public access television. We are actively seeking other community development projects and funding to expand housing, commercial and cultural opportunities.
